Crossing the Sih from the inner Catholic cantons of Switzerland into Protestant Zürich was not always easy after the 1520s. Fierce fighting occurred on the bridge. The bridge was destroyed by fire, and finally it was moved from Sihlbrugg to a spot behind the Boden farm, just south of Hirzel. Now the bridge serves only locals in a peaceful and secluded way.
