  Palmer J. Delph Palmer James Delph was born in Virginia to Joe Emory Delph 1902 -- 1960 and Ida M Orick 1897 -- 1937. He had a younger sister Josephine Delph 1925 -- 1995 and brother Lee Roy Delph 1929 -- 2003. In 1930, when he was 8 years old, He was living with his father, a farmer, and mother at Rocky Station, Lee, Virginia. In a wedding ceremony on Aug. 10, 1940 Palmer James Delph married Ella Kate Johnson in Hancock County, Tennessee.They had a least 4 children. A daughter in Canada, Vernon Lee Delph 1941 -- 1942, Betty Jane Delph Schooley Rose 1947 -- 2006, and Frank Delph 1951 -- 2009. The 1984 U.S. Public Records Index revealed that Palmer and Ella were living in Mt Airy, Maryland, and Ella continued to live there for a time after Palmer passed away. On April 16, 1992 Palmer James Delph passed away. According to his printed memorial, His service was held at 2PM the following Saturday, with internment at the Sharon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
