- Joe Emory Delph
Joe Emory Delph was born in White Shoals, Lee Co. Virginia, which is a populated area near Rose Hill. His parents were William Simpson Delph 1873 -- 1950 and Rebecca R. Reese 1876. His sibling were: Lewis Miles Delph 1894 -- 1973; Patton Delph; 1897; Amanda Delph 1897 -- 1972; Cleveland Delph 1905 -- 1989; Dee Whitt Delph 1909 -- 1996; Nannie Ethel Delph 1910 and Belle Delp 1921.
In 1910 Joe was 8 years old. His father was farming in White Shoals, Lee Co. Virginia. They were living in a house right next door to his grandpa, William Simpson Delph 1856 -- 1942.
About 1920 he married Ida M Orick and from this marriage was born 3 children, Palmer James Delph 1922 -- 1992, Josephine Delph 1925 -- 1995 and Lee Roy Delph 1929 -- 2003.
The 1930 census confirmed the names and ages of Joe and Ida three children. They were now living in Rocky Station, Lee, Virginia. They were renting a house for $2.00 a month, and Joe was working for wages as a farm laborer. Joe's 20 year old brother was living with them, and he also had found employment as a farm laborer.
May 30 1937 Joe's dear wife Ida past away in Black Water, Lee Co. Virginia. The cause of her death, or where she is buried hasn't been revealed.
On March 10, 1938 Joe was again married. This time with Alice Claira Johnson. There were three children born to this union, two sons and one daughter.
On July 3, 1960 death visited Joe Emory Delph, in Woodbine, Carroll, Maryland. His spirit went to be with God, his maker, and his body was shipped to Hawkins Co., for burial.
Joe's family and friends were at his burial site a few's days after his death to bid him farewell.
