Obituary - CHARLIE LONG
LONG - Charles Douglas, of Port Dover at Dover Cliffs Nursing Home on September 7, 2007 in his 80th year. Predeceased by his parents Craig and Elsie Long. Dearly loved brother and brother-in-law of Joseph, Frances (Dorien) Smith, Phoebe Chapman, Alfred, Thelma Partridge, Robert (Jean), Peggy (Norm) Tremblay, Frederick (Bernice) and Shirley. Will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Jim and his wife Viola, brother Mid, sister Mabel Diggins and her husband Walter, sister-in-law Irene and brothers-in-law Doug Chapman and Harold Partridge. Charlie was an avid sports fan, especially local Port Dover hockey. He spent many hours reading and enjoyed spending time in the garden. He will be sadly missed by all his family. Friends met with the family on Monday, September 10, 2007 at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service was held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel. Reverend Frank Walker officiated. Cremation followed. Memorial donations to the H/N Alzheimers Society would be appreciated.

SMITH Frances, "Fanny" of Port Dover, passed away peacefully surrounded by the loved of her family, at Dover Cliffs Nursing Home, on Sunday, April 10, 2011 in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband Dorien (1957). Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Eugene and Kathy of St. Thomas, Harley and Sylvia of St. Thomas, Terry of Port Dover, Russell and Marjorie of Brantford, Monty and Annette of Delhi, Janice Stokes of St. Thomas and Diane of Simcoe. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Alfred Long, Bob and Jean Long, Fred and Bernice Long, Thelma Partridge, Peggy Trembley and Shirley Long. Dearly loved grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of many. Predeceased by her son Marvin, daughter-in-law Betty, son-in-law Bob, brothers Joe, Charlie and Mid, sister Phoebe, brothers-in-law Norm, Doug and Harold and sister-in-law Irene. Fanny was a life long resident of Port Dover and was employed by Misner Fish Co. for many years. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Fanny on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave. Port Dover, 519- 583-1530, where the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment Port Dover Cemetery.
