  • Notes

    • With a lot of information from Mary Ellen Glover Green, a great granddaughter of Amos Glover, the following appears to be a bit of history on his family. On the 1910 census of Rider, Mayes, Oklahoma he tells us they came to the United States in 1859 and we know they are on the 1860 census of Riley, St. Clair, Michigan. Family lore tells us he came to Michigan as an orphan but more likely his parents died shortly after they arrived. Family lore also tells us he was associated with the family of John and Mary Elizabeth Chambers so it may be he lived with them after his parents died.

Through a bit of research we find his father John Pettit Glover born circa 1807 had a cousin Sarah Glover who married Amos Chambers born circa 1808. Both John Pettit Glover and Amos Chambers grew up in Saltfleet and were likely boyhood friends, possibly the reason John Pettit Glover named a son Amos Chambers Glover.
