- 1800 Dauphin County Census
John Hoover and his wife had two boys over 10 years, and two boys and two girls under ten years old. Land records reveal that John Hoover lived along Potato Valley Road, just off present day Rout 443 in Middle Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
His presumed son, George, also lived in Middle Paxton Township, as a shoemaker, in the first half of the 1800s.

- Three Neighbours
Seventy-five years later, the 1875 Landowner Atlas of Dauphin County has three Hoover families lived side-by-side on Potato Valley Road in Middle Paxton township: John Sr., Abraham and Isaac Hoover.
This John Hoover Sr. seems to be John Hoover (1806-1882) because he was buried at Miller's Cemetery just up the valley.
