    • Obituary = BACKUS, Charles Andrew - surrounded by his family at the Norfolk General Hospital on Tuesday August 6, 2013, Charlie Backus of Port Rowan, formerly of Fisherville in his 72nd year. Dear husband of Carolyn Dorothy Backus (Nee:Braybrook) Beloved father of Nicolle & Ron Nopper, Michael Backus & Denise LeClair and Laura & George Scammell. Dear grandpa of Candice, William, Tyler, and Wyatt and great grandpa of Avianna. Brother-in-law of Vivian & Charles Rees of Hagersville, and Fran & Bob Taylor of Claresholm, Alberta. Predeceased by his parents Ormiston & Jesse Backus and his brothers Harold, Wray and Robert. He will be sadly missed by many other relatives. Charlie worked for 27 years at Oshawa Meat Distribution Centre in Stoney Creek. He was born and raised in Port Dover, and was always proud of his "Backus Heritage" Following Charlie’s wishes there will be no funeral service. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Hamilton General and Norfolk General Hospitals for their compassionate care as well as the homecare nurses. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the JEFFREY W. GLENDINNING FUNERAL HOME, Port Rowan . In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association (cheques accepted) would be appreciated by the family.
