Obituary - BLAKE, Vera (nee Bell), at West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in her 97th year, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Charles (1973). Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Terry and Mona, Josephine and Bob Mummery, Ruth and Erland Lampman and Judy and Lawson Webb. Loving granny of 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Predeceased by her son John, grandsons Neil and Scott Blake and great grandson Ryan Mummery. Vera immigrated from Ireland at age 17 with her brother Hugh Bell. She was the youngest of thirteen children. She was a lifelong resident of Port Dover. Vera was a former member of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Dover and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hagersville. She was a member of the C.W.L. In keeping with Vera’s wishes there was no visitation. All were welcomed to celebrate Vera’s life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, Lynn Park Ave., Port Dover. Father Pio Beorchia celebrant. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Simcoe. For those wishing, donations to the Arthritis Society or West Haldimand General Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
