  Obituary - SMITH, Jereld of Port Dover peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family, on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 in his 68th year, after a courageous battle with cancer, with the help of a strong lady, his wife Pat (nee Powell) of 48 years. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Joanne and Danny Murphy of Brampton and Steve of R.R.#1, Port Dover. Cherished grandfather of Carrie and Cory McBride of Jarvis, Brandon Dunnett and his friend Amanda Fitchett of Brampton. Proud great grandpa of Maddie and Bella McBride of Jarvis. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jean Burley of Kincardine, Mary and Bert Dougherty of Simcoe, Carol Crone of Port Dover, Joy and Mike Slusarenko of California, Stanley Coussens of Leamington, John Smith of Brantford, Jim Smith of Waterford, Ruth and Rob Dodd, Judy and Ted Brown and Sheila and David Chanda all of Port Dover. Much loved son-in-law of Isabel Powell of Port Dover. Will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, John and Flossie Smith and his father-in-law, George Powell. Visitation was Saturday, April 1, 2006 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (583-1530). Funeral Service to celebrate Jere’s life was held Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Church, (Chapman & St. George Sts.). Reverend Frank Walker officiated. For those wishing donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
