    • Obituary - WAKARCHUK, Barbara “Joan” (nee Wheeler) - quietly at 54 Ryerse Road, her grandfather’s 1865 homestead and surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 11th, 2007 in her 76th year. Born in Selkirk in 1932, the daughter of the late Walter Wheeler (1946) and Effie May (1962). Raised and educated in Selkirk, Hagersville and finally attending high school in Simcoe; Joan is the beloved wife of Michaulo (Mike) of 47+ years. Loving mother of Walter of Trenton, Michigan, his children Skylar and Zackary; Andrew and his wife Jane of Courtland, their children Janelle, Joshua and Dameon; and Michaulo N. of Brampton, his son Ethan. Joan is also survived by her sister Margaret and a brother John. Predeceased by her sister Marion (1981). A private family funeral service was held at the Jason Smith Funeral Chapel, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe on Monday, May 14th, 2007 with Reverend John Cruickshank officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations payable to a charity of ones choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Special thanks to Dr. Wynveen, the nurses of the Community Care Access Centre, Barb at the Juravinski Cancer Clinic, the Brantford Cancer Centre and the Norfolk General Hospital for their wonderful care during Joan’s difficult journey.
