Obituary - Robert William Powell = Captain of the Exceleau, sailed her valiantly into port on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 after a lifetime of extraordinary voyages. Dearly beloved husband of Barbara. Dear father of Julie Powell (Richard), of Port Dover and William (Stacy) Powell, of Edmonton. Lovingly remembered by his Dear Grandsons Aiden and Conner and his sister Debbie Dable (John) of Paris. Predeceased by his parents, William Powell and Elinore Reaney (Deming). He will be sadly missed by his family, many friends and fellow fishermen. He was the proud owner of Robert W. Powell Fisheries Ltd. for 35 years, a member of the Port Dover Harbour Authority Board and a 30 year associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158. Bob recently celebrated his 61st birthday. The family received friends, Sunday October 19,2008, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Legion Service at 6:45 p.m., at the Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). Services were held Monday October 20, 2008 at St Paul’s Anglican Church (Market and St. George St.) at 11 a.m. with Father Rev. Kendall Reimer officiating, followed by interment in Port Dover Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated, by the family.
