Obituary - AMMERMAN, Arthur Albert of Port Dover at Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, March 10, 2006 in his 82nd year. Faithful and loving husband to Betty for 62 years, devoted father of Ronald and his wife Shirley of Port Ryerse, and Sharon Gardner of Port Dover and son-in-law Jim Gardner. Adoring and proud grandfather of Katharine and Jill Syreichtchikova (nee Gardner) and her husband Ivan. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Robert and Ruth Ammerman of Windham Centre and caring uncle of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister, Violet King. A dedicated and professional Cronkwright Transport driver with a 40-year safe driving record, was presented with the Million Mile Safe Driving Award by Mack Trucks, Inc. He enjoyed his holidays in the North country teaching his grandchildren the finer points of fishing and boating. Art was a man of honour with a great love and respect for family, friends, and neighbours. His kindheartedness and generosity will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him. Visitation for family and friends was on Monday, March 13, 2006, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover, 583-1530. Funeral service for Mr. Ammerman was held Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church (St. George & Chapman Sts.) Port Dover. Rev. James Douglas officiated. Interment at Port Dover Cemetery. Donations in memory of Art Ammerman made to Knox Presbyterian Church, Ontario March of Dimes or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
