  • Notes

    • Charles Gladstone Ivey probably purchased the mill about 1915. His father Joseph Ivey was a second cousin of Thomas Archibald Ivey who established the greenhouses in 1906. Their parents and grandparents had come from Cornwall, England about 1840 and settled in Walpole Township in the area between Jarvis and Varency. On the 1911 census Charles is a miller still living in Walpole, on the 1919 voter's list he C. G. Ivey, miller, R. R. 2, Port Dover; Lot 10 Concession 2, Woodhouse.

On February 24th 1923 Charles Gladstone Ivey and Imogen Elizabeth Henry were married in Toronto. He is listed as 38 years old and a miller, she is 23 years old and born in Pennsylvania U.S.A. and both are residing in Port Dover. Together they raised three children, a son and two daughters, in the big white house beside Ivey's Dam. Imogen would be the beautiful, elegantly dressed lady we all remember.
