Obituary - MISNER, James (Henry) Lt. Comdr. R.C.N. Peacefully, on Sunday, December 4, 2005, at Norfolk General Hospital in his 97th year. Henry was predeceased by his wife Mildred and brothers Elmore (Janet), Jack (Eleanor) and Charles (Thelma) and his sister Margaret. He is survived by his daughter Moira (Peter) Manley, brothers Robert (Muriel) and Donald (Bertha) and sisters, Laurel Ballantyne and Florence (Charles) Watkinson. Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews for his wit, optimism and love. Henry served in the R.C.N. 1940-1946 and 1950-1956 . During WWII he was on loan to the Royal Navy and served in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Theatres. He reenlisted in 1950 and was in charge of Seaward Defence for Canada’s West Coast. In 1956 he returned to his family business and served as the President of Henry H. Misner Ltd. Among his many contributions to the Fishing Industry, he was the true pioneer in introducing trawl fishing to the Great Lakes. At Henry’s request cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be Saturday, December 10 11:00 a.m., St. Paul’s Anglican Church (corner of St. George and Market St., Port Dover) Rt. Rev. Clarence Mitchell officiating. Expressions of sympathy to the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME (583-1530).
