  Bishop Martin Hoover (1760-1849) Martin Hoover, the first bishop of the Mennonites of Elkhart County, Indiana, was buried at Yellow creek in 1849. Before this he had lived with his family in Ohio, in Upper Canada (Ontario) and Pennsylvania. J. C. Wenger, the Mennonite historian and writer, stands here at the grave, in 1985 with Rufus Martin on the right.
