One of Port Dover’s leading citizens died January 27th 1940. Edward Moon had served on many community groups and spent his adult life serving his hometown in unassuming, but important, ways.
Ed Moon was secretary-treasurer of the Board of Education for 21 years. Mr. Moon was known to everyone as he was the postmaster here for ten years from June 1920.
He was elected a Village Councillor in 1904 and rose to be Norfolk County Warden in 1911. Mr. Moon was secretary of Port Dover Bicycle Club and had the distinction of owning the first bicycle in Norfolk County with pneumatic tires. He was in his 69th year at the time of his death.
