Obituary - POND, F. Ruth (nee Walsh) passed away with her family at her side at the Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008, in her 94th year. Loving wife of the late LeRoy Pond (October 25, 1971). Dearly loved mother and grandmother of Marion Pepper and her husband Jim of Simcoe, their children Doug (Lorie), Rob (Sherry) and Brad (Pawnee); Marlene Simpson and her husband Bill of Simcoe, their children Michele Hitchon (Ted) and Jeff (Kristina); and Robert Pond and his wife Myrna of Dundas, their children Kevin (Laura), Dayna Weiler (Marty) and Greg (Bev). Lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren Daniel, Michael, Chantal, Courtney, Brittany, Alex, Samantha, Tessa, Brydon, Trevor, Alayna, Logan, Jasmine, Aleks, Connor, Carter and a foster child, Nate. Ruth is survived by her sister Leona Prebble and a sister-in-law, Bell Pond, both of Simcoe. Predeceased by her sisters Bernice Ward, Edoth Brearley and a brother Harry Walsh. Very accomplished in music, Ruth received her music diploma, ATCM (Associate of the Toronto Conservatory of Music), she was the former organist of St. Andrews By The Lake, Turkey Point, an active member of Woodhouse United Church, an inductee of the Norfolk Sports Hall of Recognition, a former 10 year ladies golf Champion of Turkey Point Provincial Park Golf Club, a past president of the Simcoe Kinette Club, an honorary player of the Norfolk Hericanes hockey team and actively played the game of golf right up to her 93rd year. Friends are invited to share their memories of Ruth with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North, Simcoe, for visitation on Friday, February 22nd, 2008, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Murray Rounding officiating. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations payable to Woodhouse United Church or St. Andrews By The Lake, Turkey Point, would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
