    • From: The Sherk Family by Thomas A. Sherk:
      John was born in Rainham Township, Haldimand County, Ontario. His wife was also born in Haldimand County. As he grew up he learned the trade of farming from his father. After his marriage he engaged in farming in South Cayuga, Haldimand County. In 1917 he was ordained a minister in the Mennonite Church, which was his chosen church. He served many years in the Mennonite Church in South Cayuga. On October 21, 1946, he moved to Elmira, Waterloo County, Ontario, where he continued his ministry. John and his wife died in Elmira, Ontario and they are buried in the Elmira Union Cemetery.
