Ephraim resided in South Cayuga, Haldimand County, Ontario. He had no children of his own, but he adopted and raised Clara, a daughter from the first marriage of his brother Andrew. He engaged in farming. Ephraim and Caroline, and his adopted daughter Clara, are buried in the South Cayuga Evangelical Cemetery, along Rainham Road.
