    • JONATHAN GEE'S WILL

      In the name of God Amen, I Jonathan Gee of the Township of Gainsborough in the County of Lincoln in the District of Niagara and Province of Upper Canada Yeoman, considering the uncertainty of this Mortal life and Knowing that it is appo all men to die and being somewhat infirm in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first I give and resign my soul unto the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executors in a decent Christian like manner and as to my worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath and devise to my beloved wife Keziah Gee all that my messuage or tenement situate lying and being in the Township of Gainsborough in the County and Province aforesaid being composed of the North half of lot number eight in the sixth concession of the said Township of Gainsborough to her my said beloved wife Keziah Gee during her natural life and at the decease of her my said wife Keziah Gee I will that the said described premises shall revert to my youngest son John Gee to whom my said youngest son John Gee I give and devise the said North half of lot number eight in the sixth concession of the said Township of Gainsborough with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said John Gee his heirs and assigns forever subject to the payment of certain legacies hereinafter mentioned, I also give and bequeath to my five daughters viz Ann Johnson wife of John Johnson, Abigail Tice wife of Peter Tice, Sarah Maria, Lydia and Susannah Elizabeth Gee the sum of sixty two pounds Ten shillings lawful money to be equally divided between them which said several legacies or sums of money, I will and order shall be paid to the said respective legatees by my said Youngest son John Gee his heirs or assigns in the following order and in living stock at a fair appraisal the first payment to be made to my eldest daughter one year after the decease of my said beloved wife and so on in Succession in Yearly payments until the whole is paid. I also give and devise to my son Abraham Gee his heirs and assigns the south half of lot number sixteen in the third Concession of the said Township of Gainsborough to him the said Abraham Gee his heirs and assigns forever subject to the payment of fifty pounds as hereinafter directed. I further give and bequeath to my eldest son Joseph Gee the sum of fifty pounds lawful money which said sum of fifty pounds I will and order shall be paid to my said eldest son Joseph Gee his heirs or assigns in Yearly payments of twelve pounds ten shillings the first payment to be made one Year after the decease of my beloved wife and so on in succession until the whole is paid by my said son Abraham Gee his heirs and assigns in living stock at a fair appraisal and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate goods and chattels of what Kind and nature so ever. I give and bequeath to my said Youngest Son John Gee. And I hereby nominate and appoint my said three Sons Joseph Gee, Abraham Gee and John Gee Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former will by me made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of April one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight.
