Birth: old Bible transcript lists March 27th 1812
From: A Brief History of the Mennonites in Ontario by L. J. Burkholder, 1935.
Called to the ministry in 1838. He had no German education but preached in both languages freely.

The Will of Jacob Swartz - June 1866.
To my son Peter, 50 acres north end of Concession 2, Lot 24 Walpole "Wherein we now reside" and one span of horses.
To my Daughter Anna $300
To my Daughter Elizabeth $300
To my Daughter Charlotte $300
To my son John, $1000 to be paid to him with interest [when he attains] the age of 21years.
To my Daughter Catherine, $300 when she attains the age of 21 years.
Also mentioned. Grand daughters Elizabeth and Lydia Falls.
Peter, John, and Elizabeth are the children "still at home" in 1866.
They shared the furniture and the farm utensils.
Executors were Jos. Sherk, "son in law" and Detrick Hoover, both "of Rainham".
Total value of chattals was $2717.29. This included a $1600. mortgage held against "D. Cline".
