In an indenture made at Charlotteville, David Hoover of Rainham sold to Michael Sprengle of Rainham, yeoman, for £125 a part of lot 6 containing 133 ½ acres. The parcel began "at a Spanish Oak Sapling marked and bounded on the present occasion standing on the bank of Lake Erie in front of the said lot," thence north 7 chains 61 links, thence north 4¼ degrees east 4 chains 79 links, thence north 9 chains 65 links, thence west 8 chains 99 links, thence north 5 chains 88 links, thence east 5 chains 88 links, thence north 40 chains 50 links "to the rear of the said lot according as the said lot was theretofore sold and conveyed by John Kendig to the said David Hoover," thence east 19 chains and 88 links to the north east angle of the lot, thence south to the waters of Lake Erie, and thence west to the place of beginning. The property was sold "together with all Houses Out-Houses, Woods and Waters thereon…" Witnesses were Thomas Welch of Charlotteville, Esquire, and Abraham Hoover of Rainham, yeoman. Michael Sprengle's signature is in gothic script.
August 21, 1826
Michael Sprenckel of Rainham, farmer, sold to George Brillinger of Rainham, tanner and currier, a lot in the south end of lot 6 containing 2 acres and 3 rods for £25. The lot commenced "where a boundary has been placed on the present occasion" on the north side of the front road at a point distant 6 chains 9 links from the east limit of lot 6, and was 5 chains across and 5 chains 50 links from front to back. It was sold together with "the privilege of taking and using water from a certain spring on the said lot number six, from which a spring brook issues and runs through the above-bargained premises, and also the privilege of conveying directly through the lands of the said Michael Sprenckle one half of the waters from the said spring for the use of the tannery erected on the said premises.
The document was signed by George Brillinger and witnesses were Henry Miller of Rainham, yeoman, James Stewart of Rainham, yeoman, and Lewis A. Constantine, schoolmaster, who lived in Rainham at the time of the transaction but was living in Vaughn in the Home District by the time a memorial was registered in the Lincoln Registry on October 14, 1829.
July 3, 1833
A memorial of the will of Michael Sprenckel of Rainham was registered in the Lincoln County Registry. Sprenckel gave and devised to Henry Miller (who has remained or lived with him and was then living in the Township of Rainham, part of lot six, 133½ acres conveyed to him by David Hoover in 1812) with the improvements and appurtenances theret.... Witnesses to the will, which was made on September 24, 1831, were Isaac, Benjamin, and Jacob Hoover, all of Rainham, all yeomen.
