Henry Hoover purchased Lot 18, Concession 1, Rainham Township, Haldimand County in 1807. The lot contained 240 acres. Henry Hoover paid 25 pounds to Jacob Stoner for this land, the amount would suggest these men had a close relationship, most probably Jacob is his father in law. Jacob Stoner returned to New York State.
